of how my world might be.
We walked a road, quiet and calm;
Just nature, you, and me.

As we walked there hand-in-hand
breathing the air so crisp and clear,
we talked of all the years we'd missed
when we were not so near.

You shared with me your thoughts
of love and world-strife
and as you spoke it came to me
how alike we are in life.

On we went 'til the sun was down
and the moon showed in it's stead.
We three vowed then n'er to forget
the road and where it led.

We hugged and held with all our might
as the vision slipped away
and I awoke with empty arms
to face another day.

And though a dream, unlike it was
to all others I have had,
for it left me crying, yet, peaceful too
to have finally been your dad. [comments] => 2 [counter] => 92 [topic] => 23 [informant] => rick2 [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => FamilyPoems )

It's never too late as long as breath still exists
in our lungs and forgiveness, both the giving
and receiving kind, live in our hearts! Great
to see you are aware of this in an excellent write!
Blessings,
Robert Edgar Burns (Rob)

'The Road' almost made me cry -- a sad poem full of love and pain. The end -- where it turns out it was a dream -- is breathtaking. Dare I suggest you send a copy to each of your children? -- David
