there was a special job for him
so he's rollin' on up the highway,
weather's holding out, big sun in the sky
the trucks weave in and out, by n' by,

weigh station ahead, a few minutes rest
then once again, the miles flow along,
he tries to make each run a fun quest
as he sings a cool little remembered song,

then, n' only when, this load's delivered-
he'll have some sweet promised time off,
happy thoughts n' peace of mind within'
that trucker's run isn't really very far off,

this load is not so bad, unlike those cows
ocean scenery is beautiful, ahh, a quick swim,
he's married to the truck n' road, but; that's him
rip off the t-shirt; one quick adventure, thoughts on the wing,

his personality is earthy, strong, n' ever easygoing
he's livin' in this damn f'n truck so no bills he's ever owing,
he has a house n' family; his love for them's overflowing
he thinks about that love, riding to the place he's going,

time for him to take a rest, now halfway to afternoon
eatin' at a trucker's stop, he sees some lively raccoons, when callin'
home he'll tell them that story, about the bandits he saw commune
all this, as the miles pass, goes through his head before the moon,

two days out n' runnin' roads, now again comes the big ole' sun
fill it up with diesel, stop for pepsi n' cinnamon hot cross buns,
back on the highway, when a car swerved right under his heels
he managed to spare the driver, but in the air now; his own wheels,

it crosses his mind, that fool in that car, about almost got overrun
he thinks of back home, and his loving wife, daughter and sons,
trucker's have heart's of gold, though now this one's song is sung
hey, at least he made real good time, on that last ride to trucker's run.

*this poem is a loving tribute to all the trucker's who gave their lives, so all those cute little kids waving from the back of cars at them on their runs, and brought only smiles to the world, had another day...

Nessa, this is wonderful!! You captured this life style so well. Out of all of the travels thats what scared me the worst, getting tangled up with a four wheeler. People dont realize the mental strain on those of us who were out truckin !! Wonderful tribute!! 10-4

Dear Van, You are my Van, and I know who
really was your one real man! I saw his face
as I'm sure you did, throughout the entire
sojourn that you shared with us in this
magnetic and enigmatic presentation.I
believe that you are giving vent to just one
of Gods many gifts to. You don't have to guess who this is. I love you, dad.

Nessa, I can read between the lines and see who this is really written about - very poignant.

Amazing isn't it? Time is supposed to heal the wounds, but you remember it as though it were just yesterday! Anytime there is another wound to heal, the most painful memories seem to come along with it. Which makes it a double whammy and we live with it for the rest of our lives. Not only the pain you feel, but this poem reflects the pain that YOU feel for your babies growing up without their dad! Although our grief is somewhat different, it is all too real!! I Pray for you and your kids!!! Love always
Kathy( See, I am here)
