[hometext] => A poem remembering the escape form the coal face of the Chilean miners. Let us not forget their resilience.
[bodytext] => Band Of Brothers He emerges from the pit. The first. The hell beneath his feet. White eyes stark in the darkness, Blazing like headlights from the grime on his face. Sweat courses down the forehead. A strong arm, wiry with a grip of steel Wipes away the moisture. An explosion, then another. First the exhalation of breath from the families All as one releasing their collective emotion of relief. Then the champagne corks firing into the night sky. Rebirth. Like a crocodile from the egg he wriggles free. Leathery skin covered with soot, his own birth fluid. Squinting in the blackness, recoiling from the naked lights. The screams of joy, the exultation frightens, unbalances him. Newborn. That was then, one by one they emerged reincarnated to the bosom of the earth. But what of the now. Forgotten, betrayed, mostly unemployed. The most important thing – they have each other. Brotherhood. Family. A unifying bond that nothing can break. The band of brothers do not forget.
