Array ( [sid] => 167693 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => ANGEL [time] => 2011-10-07 09:14:30 [hometext] => this I wrote in fond memory of someone who was very near & dear to me..but a few months back she left us all for her heavenly abode [bodytext] => There was a girl I once knew
With beautiful blue eyes and red rosy cheeks
With a sweet sweet smile on her feathery soft lips
With so much love inside her that won my heart
I didn't get to know when I became hers.

There was a girl I once knew
Who stood by me through the storm and the snow
Who made me happy even in pain and sorrow
Who gave me all that I could have ever wished for
I didn't get to know when I had started to depend on her.

There was a girl I once knew
With curly black hair which shimmered in the sunlight
With eyes so deep that you could never know its bounds
With her soft slender hands she guided me into the night
I didn't get to know when I started flying through the clouds.

There was this girl whom I always knew
The one who helped me through my greatest blues
And gave me so much support in my darkest times
She made me feel like it was nothing new
And yet again I did not know where I was slowly drifting to.

This was the girl whom I always knew
As pure in her heart as the morning dew
As vast as the sky where her wings flew
She set me to sail with her as the winds blew.

She was the one whom I had always loved
Like the peacock looking for the first rain drop
And perhaps she knew it as well
That she was the angel that made me myself. [comments] => 4 [counter] => 298 [topic] => 24 [informant] => sanders [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => LoveRemembered )

"She was the angel that made me myself"....that's a classic of a final line to end a really moving piece.
You've blown real emotion into the sails of this and the end result is perfect.

Very lovely. Your words took flight as if carried by your angel's wings. That second last stanza is so beautiful.
