Array ( [sid] => 167582 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => before i knew how to lie [time] => 2011-10-02 01:30:05 [hometext] => well idk what to say [bodytext] => Before I knew how to lie
I tried to define moonlight
I stood at my window grabbing
Opalescent feathers that floated
Kissing the smooth cement
Quills dipped in the night sky
The universe was trying to tell me something
Before I knew what people being people meant
I had a pair of light up shoes
Fighter jets embroidered paralyzed
In the heat of battle
They made noise too
Pew pewwww woosshhh
Every tenth step I reincarnated
A KIA
Before I figured out I couldn’t fly
I learned to skip stones
I was never any good at it
Most of the time they would hit the water
And sink on the spot
Plunk
But there was a rare time or two
When I found just the right pebble
The most perfect ***** rock I have ever seen
And threw it away
Just to see it bounce a few times
And feel like moonlight
Soft, perfect
And before I had enough sense to be quiet
I wrote love letters to
You
Would tear them up and leave them floating in a bathroom stall
cause the thought of them bothering your eyes
gave me stomach knots like white knuckles wrapped around my gut
and before I came showed up here
I had never known what It was like
To watch a woman move with warmth
Like 6 shots of scotch
And dance like she was in a building burning down
In slow motion
Churning to the sweep of phoenix wings and gray ash
Before I realized that I might die alone
Before I met myself
Before, before, before.

I very much like the way your poem carried me to an abstract world. Hidden meaning and flowing motion. Enjoyed reading.

Your imagery is really complex and intense, it works really, really well.
