Sitting at home with the lights turned down low.
Dinner is done getting cold on the stove.
Guess I'll be eating tonight alone,
That is the life of a truck driving man.
A phone call to say he's not sure when he'll be on his way
the interstate is once again closed.
Another pile up today, traffic backed up to stay
That is the life of a truck driving man.
It's now dark outside, here I reside
with the candle burning away in the dark.
Catch a glimpse here and there of the news
to see if the traffic will move
That is the life of a truck driving man.
I cant help but worry, because I really know
of those moments and dangers driving the 18 wheeler down the roads.
I used to do it too, and I do have a clue
That is the life of a truck driving man.
( and his wife)

Shelley, not many partners knows the ins and outs of their partner's work - appreciative insight as well as fuel for fretting over.
I just spent three weeks driving through Texas and the Deep South - I did look out for you, but so sad - you're not trucking any more!

I really enjoyed reading your 'moving' poem! This was the first time I've read a poem about truck driving; the poem works. I congratulate you on a job well done!
