A DRUNKEN MAN IN DISTRESS

He is but a drunken man in distress
Drunk from the liquor of bitterness
As he brought the cup of bliss
To his quivering lips...
He tastes not of the pleasure it brings
But the taste of unfathomable pain
That burns not his throat
But his pumping heart that keeps him afloat
He stares out into oblivion to find peace
Yet the blurry picture of her face is all he sees
As he smells her sweet perfume of betrayal in the air
As he feels the touch of her skin so fair
As he hears her sing song voice of sarcasm in his ears
He drinks to the last drop and swears:
"Love...will never find its way back to me again."

That was very well written... I feel like I am the man drinking when I read this.
So many people will be able to relate to the feeling of betrayal that you showed in this poem. |

wow! This is a great write. I bet love is a great risk for betrayal follows in its wake.pure unchanging love might be stuff for poets. And men seem to take treachery really badly as illustrated skillfully.

This is one hell of a poem. It is almost biblical in its tone. What a sad song -- and who is this man -- but everyone -- everyone who has felt these feelings of betrayal and rejection. In other words, it's a universal poem. Congratulations! ----------------FlintHunter |

Yes love is a thing of beauty, its also kind and forgiving and that is why people think it can be betrayed so easily. One must guard your heart yet never deny love because of betrayal. It's a risk you take to love again and one worth while taking. Very good write and good subject.
Greetings
