Once apon a time, we were kids, carefree and fearless. And, Once apon a time, I was like that. I had no care for how I looked acted, or had something no one else had. Once apon a time, I had friends. They never left me. And once apon a time, I never had to buy anything I didn't want to to be considered "cool". Once apon a time, I wasn't scared of anything. But now everything's different. If you don't look like the "in crowd", then you aren't considered anything at all. If you don't wear make-up, you're considered ugly. If you do, you're considered a slut. Friends now come and go. At one moment, your popular; loved by all. The next, you're a ghost town. Left and abandoned. Now I'm scared of every little thing possible. I wish I could go back to my Once apon a time. The time when I was innocent, enthusiastic, happy. But my Once apon a time, was Once apon a time ago.

Once Apon A Time Ago

This is a fantastic poem -- but the story it tells upsets me; I am upset because you are letting all this phony stuff -- like the in-crowd -- rob you of your lifetime. My God! Your only 14! I am old enough to be your grandfather! Take it from me: none of that you-know-what really matters at all. You're very mature. Now all you have to do is see that you're great and never mind about anything except your own ideals and your own art. Sooner or later you will find REAL friends -- who will see YOU for who you are and you will see them the same way. That's real friendship.. Better to be alone than with a bunch of so-called 'popular' kids. You are better company to yourself. Nevertheless, a powerful poem which makes me wanna hit you over the head and say LOOK! WAKE UP! BE YOU! NOW!
