arcing through the cresting waves
guided as the sea behaves
the surfer seeks the surest path
to claim it as their own.

the board an arrow shot with flair
or a leaf, ridden with great care
the torso twists or hunkers low
depending on the set.

a sudden swoop, a barrel roll
the separate elements a whole
a grin to say I am alive
with nowhere else to be.

at last, a paddle to the shore
the oneness with the sea no more
until the tide climbs to its peak
and beckons once again.

Hi Spike,

I've never surfed before. Not recommended
up here in bonny Caledonia, on account of
the water being frigging frigorific! But boy ...
this poem was an experience!

Well scribed, Spike.

I always find the sea a mystical and magical place, so naturally I tend to read poems with mention of it in them.
Surfing is one of those things amazing to watch when done well
However, the sea always wins.....eventually!!!
Nice write.

Steve

Drippin' with delight, this is downright temptin' me to come visit ya to see if we can make as much magic over there as we did over here. I'd even learn to surf if we can hook an oxygen tank on my back.
Great write Spike.
