we hide our scent beneath perfumes;
Monday through Friday, Saturday and Sunday to
on holiday's we don't shut it down
we bleed the line till it's dead and gone
we value nothing more than what the green provides;
three day notice before you die
we can afford to loose you,but not the revenue you bring
just don't get blood on the carpet

Here in the west we don't advertise truth
only what can cover it up
silence is golden just leave it alone
material excess is the gag down our throats
compulsion and envy the only way to go
don't flood the airwaves with questioning our faith
for we worship what ever is the soup of the day

Here in the west
we don't think for ourselves
why be burdened by such depth
when we can just be seduced,
manuvered and reduced
into twenty-first century drones
nevermind that freedom's taking a hike
the man on the podium say's" it's alright"
here in the west we have a saying
"everything's for sale, even our souls". [comments] => 4 [counter] => 235 [topic] => 55 [informant] => unorthodox [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => dedicatedpoems )

You write it RIGHT!
*slings off to hide her soul*
I wish there were more with eyes open wide...

What a TRUTHFUL poem! You hit the nail on its head and drive it through the cement of phony cover-ups. Your words are clear, clean, and precise. There is no ambiguity about your world-view. But at least there are people like you -- in the West and beyond, too.

Keep writing -- please --

--Flint

Here in the west the truth is to hard to believe
People love to be lied to and deceived
