Array ( [sid] => 166783 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Love is just a word [time] => 2011-07-15 15:20:53 [hometext] => This may offend some of you, oh well. One day I got tired of seeing so much perversion of the word love, it's become so twisted that I feel a lot of people don't really love anymore. I feel it's shifted from selfless to a selfish desire. [bodytext] => Love is just a word
That we all love to say
Overused and underrated
As it’s spoken every day

Love is an excuse
For what we don’t respect
To pursue after something for ourselves
Pleasure, people, sex

Love is just a meaning
That was slaughtered long ago
When we crucified it’s maker
And swapped it’s purpose for our own

And since then people never stopped loving
Completely fulfilled everyday
As long as you meet the requirements
Aren’t you glad to be loved in this way? [comments] => 3 [counter] => 337 [topic] => 56 [informant] => scottstone [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => sarcasticpoetry )

There should be nothing offensive about truth
I wholly agree with this passage
one needs only look around and this can be verified
faster then a sobriety test, love is a beautiful thing
but in this world it's only been perverted
well spoken

You are absolutely spot on with this.
Love is used far too easily and mechanically these days, without it ever being truly heartfelt.

Maybe because it takes less effort to use the word love rather than "like very much"...especially in the text speak world we live in now !!
