Array ( [sid] => 16673 [catid] => 1 [aid] => Mick [title] => Why Eric, Did You Leave Me? [time] => 2003-04-28 22:25:00 [hometext] => I wrote this poem about my closest friend who was murdered last October 13th.
He was involved in drug dealing and he owed 15 dollars to some gang bangers. He didn’t have the money on him and he was late in paying it. So three men came up behind Eric and Jason while they were walking to the forest preserve. They beat the ***** out of Jason and put him in the hospital. As for Eric, a guy came up behind him and slit his throat. Later that night I got a phone call from Jason’s mom telling me what happened. My heart sank and I thought my life was over… [bodytext] => Why does the sun rise and give light
Only to set again too soon
Why do stars twinkle so bright
Only to pass away with the moon

Why does a rainbow appear with colors to show
Only to fade for no apparent reason
Why does a flower take so long to grow
Only to die during winter season

Why does snow fall so prettily and lay
Only to change and then melt
Why do people enter our lives along the way
Only to leave us when they knew how we felt

It was cold and windy
That one October day
When you died and
Left my world so gray

When you owed 15 dollars
They were after you
A guy slit your throat
And once I find out who…

They’ll get a piece of my mind
Murdering my best friend
If only you weren’t dealing
Your life wouldn’t have come to an end

You left me on this world
To deal with your pain
You thought of your life
As one huge game

Never thinking you’d get caught
Never worrying who would tell
Just constantly worrying
About how much you’d sell

Dealing drugs was your life
But when it came to friends
You were there for me
Through all the thick ends

We shared so much
In our short time together
And the time that we shared
Has made memories forever

A few days later
You were put in the ground
And I became quiet
Never making a sound

Sometimes I can't believe
That you're really gone
You always swore you'd never leave me
But I guess what we thought was wrong [comments] => 4 [counter] => 242 [topic] => 48 [informant] => Val [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 5 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => EmotionalPoetry )

Val, I feel for you. I'm sure you were a wonderful friend.
While reading this poem, I almost felt that it was two seperate poems in one. The first started out like a masterpiece, you should finish it in the same matter as it started, it had real possibilities to be outstanding...A Masterpiece. You have a real talent.
Once again, I'm very sorry for your friend.
Jeff
