Darkness is lifting
And dawn is entering the gaping mouth
Of an astonished sky.
Beyond the emerging hills the horizon is blushing,
A crimson stain spreading slowly
Like blood pooling in the womb.
And there on a far rocky enscarpement a crow meditates,
His deep dark eyes measuring the depth of dawn.
And mesmerised by the moment he watches
As the high tide of light rushes
Over the receding shore of darkness.
The valley now is light flooded and flame fed,
The heat of the rising sun warming the earth,
Warming my heart.

Fantastic vivid description, love the line that starts..... and Dawn is entering the gaping mouth, exciting writing when you are drawn into every tiny detail that then opens up into a magnificent picture. great Dennis x

Epic stuff, this really held my interest and the visualisation took me right there.
I remember about a year ago, my wife and I got up really early and drove to a magnificent view to watch the sunrise.
Unfortunately it being the UK, it was overcast and we didn't really see anything. At least reading this I can pretend I have.

To my favorite nature writer; Woohoo! A crow meditating...I can 'see' it. Thanks for the awesome visulization your words invoked!
