[title] => A Small Brown Coin

[hometext] =>
[bodytext] => Ask me the price of freedom;
A small brown coin is all; She walked her days in Eden; Still a shiny new penny, Tumbling in daddy’s pocket; Spinning in the air, glinting And sparkling with life and hope; Till the sun fell into her bedroom, And she stared wide eyed, smiling As it fused her eyelids to her skull, And cheeks and lips melted. All I can do now as I look down On my tiny coin; on the treasure I failed to save; Charred and black, With rictus grin, and a stare Fixed eternally on Paradise, Is reach in my purse For a small brown coin To cover her eyes; Turn away, And count the cost: Forever.
