Array ( [sid] => 166229 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Poverty is Her Enemy [time] => 2011-05-07 14:32:17 [hometext] => My best friend is the same age as I, in our teens, and her family is very poor. She often has to take care of the whole family. This is dedicated to her. I will be here for her for as long as she needs me. [bodytext] => Pantry Empty
Child Crying
Four Siblings
One mother.
They are hungry,
Yet they offer me
Their only food,
Chewy bars.
This is no way
To live.

House is trashed,
All the kids,
Crammed in two
Little rooms.
This is no way
To live.

Eldest Child,
My best friend,
So small,
Quiet.
But she has
A lot to say.
Too much.
She wants so cry.
She wants to scream.
But puts on a smile.
This is no way
To live.

She stays strong,
Becoming the mother.
No matter what
I will stay.
Not pitying her,
Helping her.
She is my best friend
And I will always
Be here for her
Till death.

but I have the power to walk away,
unlike her
she'll be glad of my help but will despise me for it.
For I can comment, knowing I don't have to live that way.
She lives that way, knowing she can't comment.

And that my friend is the problem any privileged friend will come across.

Anyway, enjoyed it.

Ta
Allan
