To live, of course, and to avoid suffering of the flesh
Every inhale confirms this impulse
Mother’s lap and soothing touch made us accustomed to comfort
Would you sit on an electric chair to get skinny, or rich?
Hours of lightning waves instead of hamster-nights on the treadmill
Sounds easy, if self-improving pain was inflicted by a machine and not oneself
Rejecting the upward trend of human growth, many believe hedonism is the solution
Behold, the 90-pound junkie with the needle shrine, the 400-pound attacker of the fridge
The bulimic bow to the porcelain queen, and the semiannual God-fearer
The rosy pull for ecstasy, the crimson-craving flash
The paper scratch for paper, and the thief’s copper caper
The baby-makers-for-baby-daddies, the green-grippers, coupon-clippers, and the page-flippers
The message was in the bottle before you tipped it- it was chilling in the fridge too
Crack open another, I’m sure that’s where it’s hiding
Cycles are what remains when time is stripped away
At day-break or day-late, just keep it moving.

people do what people do.
They don't see things like I or you.
One thing that will never budge-
idle tongues inclined to judge.
