I stopped and noticed our wooden friends
Large, small, medium, old, young, new
Reddish-brown bark, sprawling
with skeleton hands of electricity
Growing from its roots of nature’s soil
Brown, light green moss upon its skin of bark
Giant bending over the road
with bushy green hairdo
Fingers outward, welcoming the traveler
Beginning ones with light brown, dried petals
Large oak with reptilian bark
and octopus hands
Reaching, grabbing, curling downward overhead
Snake sprouting, drifting to earth
Tall one with arms of the inside of an umbrella
Some frame support broken
Bush of light brown thorny lightning bolts
Forming a sphere lying upon the ground
Along the roadway a drooping one
with green braided hair
They provide shade, fruit and scenery for all
