Like the first time for everything. And I fell.
For the prettiest girl in my class
Like my first step was a doozy
And the room turned upside down
I felt woozy.
Like an egg in a frying pan
I cracked, and cooked
My fueled desires
Like a flame in propane
Or my last breathe of air
For there’s no holding back
Without trying I could not fare
Like Mother Nature she struck me
Words uplifting and hearty like honey
I was flying.
Like a wild rose
She had it all
She could make me melt
Like a monsoon she smashed my walls
And let the water quench my thirst
I was nervous and could feel the earth quake.
“There’s rules in this world, rules you can’t break”
said the voice In my head
So I waited. When I’d rather take torture
Than count the seconds of suspense
That became hours that became days that took weeks..
When I should have been dating
I was outdated
Pleasure felt numb
I was sedated
.. all because I waited

As time flowed past
Like slow drying glue, I realized what I already knew
I could never get to the mountaintop
The first step was in the clouds, like my dreams
This girl was surreal. With the highest ladder
And the longest reach, on my best day
With my sharpest lines, I could never reach her plane.
We lived in two different dimensions
And everything I had to offer was poison
Tar that would pave cancerous roads
Where birds once sang
and the deer once sprang
So I swallowed the world, at least to me
And swore I’d quiet my ecstasy
How could I tell her?
“Hey you’re the duality
that in absence feels lonely”?
Or that all is well when you speak to me?
No. I could not.

With my head in the clouds I failed to see
The war that was raging inside of me.
Like King Louis XVI revolution was close
My emotions were starving and the reality arose
That I could no longer keep quiet my feelings
My body is filled, so I had to unveil
Just this one truth.
My compassion through restraint has failed me
I’m sorry this slipped
And I hope you forget this script.
Thank you for showing me true brilliance
A flurry of snow, and the light
Of a world unknown
