his voice was spontaneous, yet lyrical.
I remember, he spoke with me then, or it seemed,
of mankind's greatest monsters and miracles.

Of a paradise lost, and worldliness found,
of a culture with pure singularity,
Where insight and epiphany wholly abound,
And all thoughts arrive in perfect clarity.

To the garden of Eden it should be compared,
but philosophy motivates all,
no society, only ideas are shared,
for Truth, the pursuit of St. Paul

In this realm all consciousness yearns for intelligence,
not by bread or by air does one live
enlightenment, thoughts with importance and relevance,
sought by all, but what being shall give?

“Is this Heaven?” was solely the thought I conceived,
for it is, if nothing else, ethereal,
but lacking pleasures and vices, at once I believed
all heaven can't be immaterial.

Few humans I know could enjoy such a place,
meditation occupies ones years
It seems ill-suited to our mortal race,
thinking only of loathing and fear.

To understand everything, live in a dream,
Is one's mind prepared to imagine it?
This, and darkness, we all are somewhere in-between,
Balance, holding off the apocalypse.

The Balance of Mind contains in it's cups
Dumbness and Wisdom, It's master,
For knowledge is power, but power corrupts,
Should absolutes ever, then, be sought after?

This world, so it seems, is by gods, and for gods.
And ones brilliance alone cannot conquer it.
For with wisdom comes doubt, and without it comes fraud,
Is Ignorance Bliss? Or the Opposite? [comments] => 1 [counter] => 118 [topic] => 21 [informant] => DanWhite [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 5 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => Lifepoems )
