From keeping my heart, my soul in pain!
Wouldst I have known for all these years,
No answer would ever stem these tears,

For though I bravely travel on,
A part of me hast truly gone.
And search my soul in anguish still,
This sorrow neither choice nor will.

For who can mend a broken heart?
Or mask the face to play the part?
And who can halt the tide of time?
To give me back what’s rightly mine!

For this I have not asked nor chosen,
From hand of fate my life is frozen.
This cup, mine lips were forced to take,
Such wretched a life for God to forsake!

And now I bow to relentless tides of time,
An ocean of tomorrows’ never to be mine!
And in the focus of life, a reflective mirror.
Love as a flame ever dimmer and dimmer

Oh fleeting window! oh dream of perfection!
Forgive me my indulgence and introspection.
Forgive me my weakness, my gathering fears
Through shattered glass forgive me my tears,

Wow and wow again! This is the stand out piece on the site at the moment. Very strong, brilliantly executed rhyme and rhythm. I really enjoyed this, thanks Anna.
