[hometext] => A Bit Of Writer's Block, An Absent Muse, And A Troublesome Pen
[bodytext] => ............................................................. Biting my truant pen, beating myself for spite: 'Fool!' said my Muse to me,'look in thy heart and write.' -Sir Philip Sidney in Astrophel and Stella ............................................................. Tonight I struggle with my pen And wrestle with my shattered thoughts, Haunted by old memories I once tagged as forget-me-nots. Defensive and irrational, My pen bites at my very soul, Unwilling to note the date and time My fragile thoughts were really mine. "You've already lost," she says to me, With a wit like steel, and no great care. My pen is more an enemy And denies my Muse is really there.. With callous disregard, this Sage Will not permit my thoughts to page, And humbly dims her willing eye Letting Creative Thought slip by... Tonight I've lost another fight, And humbly succumb to the night. I'll try again when dawn is here, And pray my Muse is somewhere near. Copyright © 2011 Richard D.
