And soar high above, rise up into the sky.
I flew with the wings that your love gave to me,
Wings like an angel’s, they let me be free.

As I danced with the wind and rejoiced in the clouds,
I marveled at all of this joy that I’d found.
Never a thought or concern did I pay,
To coming back down from the sky where I played.

But then out of nowhere, one bright sunny day,
You came up to me and took my wings away.
With no explanation, with no reason why,
Just callously told me that humans can’t fly.

When you took back the wings, I cried out in pain,
And the clouds blocked the sun and it started to rain.
My lovely wings gone, I too fell from above,
Just me and the raindrops, alone and unloved.

As I fell I looked up, through my tears called your name,
You just looked at me coolly, without feeling shame.
Indifferently watching me drop to my death,
As I begged you to save me with my dying breath.

And the last thing I saw before hitting the ground,
Was you giving my wings to someone else that you’d found.
Your back turned to me, her face all aglow,
I wanted to warn her, for how could she know?

I know now the reason you gave me the wings,
Even flying gets lonely for a subject-less king.
But I can’t understand why you took them away,
Was I not good enough for a part in your play?

Now I’m back to walking, more dead than alive,
I fell from so high and I barely survived.
All I have now are memories, dreams in the night,
Of the wings that I borrowed, angelic and white. [comments] => 3 [counter] => 218 [topic] => 22 [informant] => semperNemo [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 9 [ratings] => 2 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => LostLove )

'when life gives you lemons, make lemonade.' Enjoyed the read here, your rhythm and rhyming are almost flawless. The story is powerful and draws the reader in easily. Perhaps the subject could fight back just a touch, depend more upon oneself, and replace those wings with wings that can't be taken away. Really a nifty write. tfs

This is amazing.

I felt like listening to sad and grooming song. It is very touching.
