stare at the stars
how similar we are
yet they are so far

putting off this light
but most are dead
yet we see life
nothing of a soul left

i wear this smile
but its only a mask
inside is hollow
i fake every task

every laugh and smile
is forced from within
muscles and sounds just form
when did this begin

maybe when i loved
and dropped on my knees
when i took her away
and asked to marry me

maybe when i became
not good enough
i saw it in her eyes
then everything became rough

i left her
destroyed my heart
but it had to be done
a new pain began to start

over time i couldn't feel
my emotions were numb
no were to escape
no were to run

now i'm just a star
dead and bright
nothing left of me
except this light

Well done. This is a fine piece of writing, free flowing with a nice rhyming pattern. Thanks for sharing.
