Array ( [sid] => 165531 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Call of the pink [time] => 2011-03-29 06:44:21 [hometext] => This poem was written after my first diagnosis with breast cancer . [bodytext] => Ladies, Ladies, all over the place
I have a story to tell about a problem we face
It's something for years we've never discussed
Always keeping quiet, keeping it on the hush
I know ladies are supposed to be seen not heard
But breast cancer is real, so lets spread the word
It effects women of all ages and races
All religions, different backgrounds, and different places
Just because it's cancer doesn't mean the end of the world
Sit back , relax, while we talk about this girl
One day she was bathing and found a lump in her breast
At first she paid it no mind, and continued on her quest
But the knot never moved, which made her begin to worry
She brought attention to her boyfriend, and called the doctor in a hurry
He checked her, and decided that seeing a surgeon would be best
So she did, decided to remove it and send it off for some test
The test came back and she was surprised to hear
She had breast cancer at 21, filling her life with fear
But she didn't give up. kept the faith, and continued praying
She listened to her doctors, and researched the things they were saying
She had a lumpectomy, radiation, and chemotherapy
By the same time next year, she was announced cancer free
And still going strong, it's been 7 years now.
She never gave up and knew she would make it somehow
So the moral to the story is no matter how hard it may be
We can beat it ,my sisters, just look at me
