Perfume Model

A crowd of people submit to being
bussed across the country for a small fee.

I was among the group.
So was a nice stranger
who I didn't feel like talking to...

She gestured to see if I want one of her malteesers,
Slightly shocked, I now think that my response was
too absent and may of seemed as though I was offended,
I wasn't. I was glad she sat beside me.

I didn't notice her perfume until
I wondered how she smelled.

It was warm and subtle, a breeze that
skimmed the surface as you swim underwater.

She didn't look at me after the malteeser offering
but I knew she wasn't awkward, she was calm.
She had slow breaths, sweeping movements,
and she smelled really pleasant. You couldnt feel bad
about yourself if you smelled like her.

She got off on the stop before mine.
She just walked along the Liffey as I watched.
She was about to turn a corner.
Then the bus turned off toward the airport.

Sine then I found out the perfume she was
wearing was some Calvin No. 4 or something.
I even wore it for a while but it never smelt as nice
as it did on her... Still doesn't smell as nice
as it did on her...

You related beautifully how that scent will remain with you forever because of her and only her!

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
