Not a sound,
No clip clop of the hundreds of feet,
Nothing around.

Through the light of day shines my murky darkness of reality,
Consumed by my own thoughts,
Enthralled by my dreams,
Taken with my wishes,
Or so it would seem.

Alone amongst billions,
Surrounded for miles,
Neither here nor there,
Greeted by smiles.

A solemn vow,
A life long frown,
Emptiness and disillusion,
It drags me down.

Clear yet blurry,
Black but white,
Slowly I merge with the surroundings,
Out of sight.

Calm and collected,
Yet angered and erratic,
Coarse but soft,
So problematic.

Far from my sanity,
Surrounded by qualms,
In the pit of my stomach,
I can feel my demands,
For love and happiness,
For lone solitude,
For a moment in time,
Where I don't feel deluded,
For that wonderful feeling,
It's long since passed,
For that meaningful touch,
In it I must trust.

For it does exist,
Somewhere I know,
To escape this abyss,
Recapture my soul,
For a moment in time,
When I will see,
If I can accumulate some meaning,
Some happiness in me.

Alone but surrounded,
Neither here nor anywhere,
One day in my future I will reach there.

My anger dormant,
I'll smile once again,
Although from love and commitment,
I shall forever refrain,
For no I am wrong,
There will eternally be pain.

Angered and bitter,
I will always be,
Hate and cynicism,
It's all I can see.

For years to come,
In my remaining time,
Nothing but confusion,
It's how I'm defined,
Arrogance gone,
Now back in my shell,
Yes, this is it!
My living hell.

Amazing! Truly one of the best poems I've read on here. It is exactly how I feel most of the time, alone and confused.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
