Demon dark and deep
It swirls like an autumn mist,
Crashes like a wave
On the shoreline of my sleep.
And there, high on an ancient cliff,
A solitary star is entering the night sky.
A shadow, stiff with frost and fright,
Comes upon me
And I turn and face its fear,
A fear mirrored in the eyes of my mind,
Delicately embroidered
On the fabric of my sanity.
With a heavy heart and shaking legs
I flee across fields infiltrated by ghosts
And memories of the past,
I crash through woods,
Dense and dozy with sleep
Until with a hot flush of certainty
My legs buckle, my heart beats a military drum,
And I fall gratefully
Into the warm embrace of my awakening. Darkness has entered the pin point
Opening of my mind,
Demon dark and deep
It swirls like an autumn mist,

Wow very dark,makes the anxious dream I had last night, pale into insignificance.This is a different side I'm seeing to you, yet still brilliantly written, your descriptive power is awesome.
These lines I especially liked;

'And I turn and face it's fear,
A fear mirrored in the eyes of my mind,
Delicately embroidered
On the fabric of my sanity.'

I read your poem and I like to interpret dreams.

Darkeness- Fear of the unknown.
Demons- letting lust give way to your better judgement.
Cliff- Indicates that you have reached a new level of understanding, new awareness, and a fresh point of view. Also suggests that you are pondering a life altering decision.
Shadow- to see your own shadow, signifies an aspect of yourself which you have not acknowledged or recognized. To see a shadowy figure represents characteristics which you have not acknowleged or incorporated into your own personality.
Ghosts- symbolizes aspects of yourself that you fear.
Field- You may be going through a field of personal growth.
Memories-You are ready for a new outlook in life.
Woods-Unknown and unconscious
Heartbeat- To hear a heartbeat in your dream, suggests that you are not confronting or recognizing your feelings.

I love the way you sum it up!!!! Excellent poem. I think you captured what many of us feel when we dream those dream maybe more accurately described as a nightmare.
