Array ( [sid] => 16451 [catid] => 1 [aid] => Mick [title] => The Assassination of Romance [time] => 2003-04-23 13:05:00 [hometext] => If any of you have ever loved someone, and if, for any reason, they caused you pain...this poem is for you. It pretty much talks about how the person wishes the other person was in pain, and that they could erase them from their minds forever. It also provokes the relization of things young lovers are usually blind to. [bodytext] => Transfixation of a mind,
Was there ever anything better?
Needing nothing to hold onto
Suspending ourselves in a timeless grip.
Security making revolution,
My thoughts, the point of center.
What a memorable mess,
A small compilation of you
Like photographs strewn on the floor -
Colors of rusting greys.
Something of such beauty
Was the least likely to fall melancholy.
I've no will to live,
No air to breath but that contamination:
A rancid pile of dead rose petals.
You used to be so admirable,
But with fallen hopes, you collapsed,
And like limp blossoms you hung your head.
You're not getting what you deserved.
The gun's held at MY forehead.
I'm standing for MY final moments.
This should be your heart
On the edge of exploding
In a liquid hail of esoteric encounters.
Your memory is my hell, my love.
Not a night passes without sudden awake,
And your eyes are always the light,
In such a salvation of darkness.
Should I care to see daybreak once more?
Sunsets have always been my inspiration.
A reminder of you and all I wished not to treasure.
Inspire me, Nevermore.
Just end this misery
By defacing yourself from my life.
May we never meet eye to eye
Eye to mind.
For the pleasure you bring
Only grows pale in misdeed.
You were a masked volture,
Who appeared to me as a perfect dove
In the rain of truth,
All but you was washed away.

In one night;
Sweet comfort burned in infamy
And the assassination of Romance,
Was the act of our cries of lamentation.

The world drowned in red,
And as the blood had washed away:
Young lovers could finally see,
How much of a fairy tale
Life will never be. [comments] => 3 [counter] => 152 [topic] => 48 [informant] => flirtyrockstar [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => EmotionalPoetry )

better to be hated for who you are than loved for who you are not.

I agree that the last 3 lines are the best. I just always find it so unfortunate that so many people feel so reliant to the rest of the world for comfort and acceptance. They say that "No man is an island", yet I could see myself perfectly content living on a deserted isle for the rest of my life. As long as my needs were taken care of and I had my thoughts to keep me company I wouldn't have need for more. I may be a rarity, but I don't feel that anyone is justified in staying at the opposite side of the emotional spectrum. Self-reliance is a virtue.
