Let's go to the theatre, the finest one in town.
Let's go to theatre, there's thousands up and down.
The cast, so many players, toil
all day long.
Many voices, colours and sounds, join the merry throng.
One side beeps incessantly, another gently hums.
"Have you spoken to Ethel Fishman?" She swears by those reduced plums.
I was asked for identification, they thought the spoons were for crack.
Not that I was offended, I can't wait to come back.
The theatre knows my every move, every beep, past and present.
The future belongs to me there, another retail peasant.

Very good poem. Different in a good way. I like the way you play with your words. |

I liked the juxtaposition of the supermarket with the theater, the way mundane activities like that can be filled with so much drama it's like going to a movie every time you step out of the house. I, myself, have had the experience of thinking someone must be filming my life for their personal entertainment more times than I'd like. Nice. |
