i spout all these philosphies at you
i preach to stand up and fight
(while i cower and lick old wounds)
i command you to not be average
(while i, for all my prattlings, am nothing special)
i scream out that you might as well die
though i just told you to stand up and fight
(while i sit and whine about life
yet never find the courage to end my own)

i have grown so violently sick
that i have become the disease, the affliction
divided, i fight against myself
i am the walking contradiction

i tell you that you could be a god
then i inform you that you are nothing
i preach that nothing really matters
but as long as you're here, you might as well do something
i come off like a ***** "know-it-all"
when i really know nothing, my brain is dead
i bellow that you should just be yourself
while i slip into another mask

becoming everything i hate
crucifying myself for attention
i'm only pretending to be a poseur
confused, a walking contradiction

like the bible, i betray myself
with every word i say
tomorrow i'll deny all of this
i'm just feeling honest today
in the mirror, i see myself
yet, he doesn't seem quite like me
so, let's see, there's me, the other me
and mirror me makes three
in truth, everything is a lie,
so, i guess that too is a lie
if you're wondering why we're telling you this
don't ask us, we don't know why

i share this body with my twin
and it makes for strange self-conversation
don't ask him, he'd just lie to you
truth is, we're a walking contradiction [comments] => 4 [counter] => 168 [topic] => 13 [informant] => Cancer [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => DarkPoetry )
