To envelope my joy until it is barren.
And the cavity left is weakened
And malleable to the point of
Conforming to the next best thing
But even the next best is not enough
For every beating has diminished its
Capacity to spring back to life and
Hold the joy that once stood firm.
Firm is only in the pain and sorrow,
Which follows every strike and slash
Struck upon me by another soul,
Without cruel intentions but only cruel results,
And which satiates my masochistic desires,
But won’t grant myself mercy
Then demands greater sacrifice for the cause,
As an addict craving a hit sells themselves again and again
And is blind to the fallout created by their actions.
So am I shaded from the fallout brought by
Unsolicited engagement with the genesis of pain
Until my veins run dry and my body
Shivers as consequence for my inability to satisfy
The need to fill myself up with unwanted substance.

The love drug is the most addictive drug in the world, and the most difficult to quit :p
