Just then a streak of blue appears in the sky.
A piece of gray has been erased.
This little line of blue sky brightens my soul.
Its blue stands out in the remaining gray backdrop.
The fog of my mind has dissolved and left
behind a clear view blue sky with hope
floating on puffy clouds.

Great stuff, it's as though hope has managed to seep through the darkness of the world and renewed it.
Well written, powerful and compelling.

In 1989 someone I became close to over the years died. I went to the funeral, paid my respects and all. I was, so far that day, the pillar of strength that everyone else seemed to need. After the funeral and all, we went out to eat. Still, I remained relatively calm as everyone else seemed to be slowly snapping out of their mourning. We then went back to her daughter's and I was sitting on the couch looking at a photo album with some pics of her in them.

Now, before I continue, I must deviate with this:

We had this type of rapport were it wasn't really an argument but we would "debate" jokingly on very many occasions about the New York Mets, the Saint Louis Baseball Cardinals, overcast days and sunny days. She thought the New York Mets were great and I thought (and still do) really like the St Louis Cardinals. She loved overcast cloudy days and I, sunny and warm. Nope, not her, overcast, cloudy, and in a restaurant sipping coffee. Her: No, the Mets are better! Me: Nuh-uh, the Cardinals!!!! Yuck, overcast days. Pooie!

Now, back to the photo album:

I came across a pic of her wearing a New York Mets Baseball Cap while at a game. It was then I finally broke down and started crying. I needed to get out of that house, so I did. I went outside and sat on a picnic table crying and someone caught my attention out of the corner of my eye. I turned to my right and there she was, standing about fifty feet away from me, smiling. I then felt the heat of the sun on my face and the light of the sun shining in my eyes, as the once gray sky of clouds seemed to suddenly part to let the sunlight shine through. I looked back over and she was gone. The clouds went away and the day finished sunny and warm.

This poem so very, very much reminded me of that day. Thank you ever so much.

Tim

First line caught my attention. Was rewarded with the reading, especially with the positive ending.
