2007, an open field
a coloured mass of shapes and size
a movement that will not yield;
the grounded marvel as gods arise

baskets dangling from taut strings;
aeronauts have claimed the blue
and strapped on billowy wings,
worn only by a chosen few

dawn ascension, by lantern bright
white pockets drifting silently;
lifted high on inner light
such pearls of luminosity

a collective wonder, tempting fate
some sky riders even tried
to reach farther than dictate
to fall like Icarus, denied

to taste the chill wind so near,
adrenaline mixed with fear
I never got to ride the air
but in ‘07, man, I was there.

Hi Spike,

I've just been transported - up up and higher yet -
reached out and touched the face of God.

Great piece!

Great way to describe it.
I've been lucky enough to go up in a balloon and I have to say the experience is one I will never forget.......so calm and peaceful up there (unless you happen to be in a great mass of balloons of course)
