Granted

Contributed by Ambivalence on Thursday, 21st October 2010 @ 07:50:46 PM in AEST
Topic: FriendshipPoetry

Ever since we were little kids,
we’ve shared so many memories together.
We’ve enjoyed the good as well as
endured the bad experiences.
I must admit,
there’s no one else I’d rather be friends with.

Throughout the years though,
I feel like I’ve somewhat taken you for granted.
I’m not sure if you knew this already,
but I never seek to pester other people
with my personal problems.
Me, myself, and I are usually whom I rely
when in need of understanding and advice.

There were many times when I needed you,
yet I didn’t make that simple phone call.
My dilemmas would dwell on and on for days
without me even considering your help at all.
Maybe it’s because I refuse to show signs of weakness
or maybe it’s because I think I’m always right.
However, I know I don’t always make the best choices.

I continue to be stubborn in this way,
but I promise that will soon change.
Thanks for listening
and I’m sure you’ve known this already:
you’re always welcome to ask me for anything.
