A little girl who came into my world
As she looked up at me, I felt so much pride
She filled me with such joy tears came to my eyes

This small special package that was a gift to me
The most precious gift I could ever receive
What am I to do, Will I do things right?
Oh Lord I must pray with all of my might

How can you make me her Mom, worthy I'm not
I don’t have much time I have only one shot
I have to get it right the first time for sure
One day she will be grown and walk out of my door

A young lady now she is and it happened so fast
I wish I could go back to make the time we had last
The times when she didn’t have a care in the world
The time when she sang as she danced and she twirled

The simple days of a child replaced by choices to make
Like what college will she go to or whom she will date
Like being strong and pretending nothing’s wrong
But Mommy knows her well, since the day she was born

Now is where I hope that I have taught her well
But in my tears I stand because I'm not sure I can tell
That precious little package that required much care
Did I do what I was supposed to I will keep her in prayer

So for now I hope she knows that proud of her I am
That she’s more precious to me that the rarest of gems
And that I love her so much more than I can say
And may God keep her and guide all of her Days.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
