You made me nervous In a giggly, girly sort of way.
The way you looked at me made me feel special, and wanted.
It was as though my soul recognised you in those first few hours that we spent laughing and talking the night through. You didn't think i'd come back..but i did...because it was you.
I remember waking up on the couch to see you sitting on the floor beside me, smiling that sexy smile.
When I asked why you were watching me sleep..you simply said, because you're beautiful.
For the first time, I felt it.
When you said you were leaving a few days later, I was shattered.
I wasn't a one night stand kind of girl, But in that moment I knew..
One night with you would last the rest of my life with someone else.
Because it was you.
It was beautiful.
The day you left I cried, and never thought i'd see you again....but I did.
I sold my car and shipped off for Queensland after you.
It was so sweet to hear that you slept with my photo each night...I fell in love with you a little bit right then.
Our first night back together, you played me a song
Do you remember?
You claimed, through the words of that song, to be "SHAMELESS".
I never had been, but I was with you.
Because you were who you are.
Every touch was electric, every moment intense.
The day I said goodbye broke my heart..but I loved you enough to leave you.
Now...years later, I sit here, looking at a recent photo of you
And it all comes rushing back.
We have seperate lives, relationships, children, and again live miles apart
But those feelings are still there..deep inside...hidden
Even though it hurts now to remember what we had
Knowing it's too late to have it again
Every now and then
I close my eyes and remember how we loved.
I waited my whole life for my soul mate, and I lost you.
But I don't regret
Not a minute, not a second
I can still taste your lips, feel your touch, and hear your voice
That's enough.
Because your you.

WOW! This was very touching! I can relate very well! I think we all have someone in our lives that we never completely forget even when we love someone else. Great poem! I really, really enjoyed this! Keep it up!
