It hurts just like this
A fourteen-story fall
And you survive
Walking down the street
Feeling pulled apart
Have to pretend nothing happened
Because if they knew
That love was suicide,
They would have never tried
Aching limbs, bleeding knees
Eyes wincing with unfelt pain,
How will you ever tell people
That crack in the pavement was you?
How will you ever explain
You’d do it again and again
If only for the rush of air
Before the ground hits back?
The teeter on the edge
The tease as you look down
You were never afraid of heights,
Just how it ends.

Love is a pain, as everyone knows
from the top of your head to the tips of your toes,
and sometimes it hurts - this thing they call 'love'
but no pain is worse than the pain of no love.
