I made a mistake, I know, I should have been strong

I was in love, my girl, your mother
But things went sour, all we did was suffer

She wanted more, more than I could ever offer
She wanted more, more than just your father

If I had the world I'd give it to her
But I don't have it, I don't own the planet dammit.

I was a boy, but I could have been a man
Worked my way through college, 3 shifts for a stand

A father with a fatherless past
Wished for his child, a life he never had

I hope you understand, understand why
Your father isn't a coward, he tried

Often I sit wishing for the sands of time
To go back, to save my soul, my child

Its kills me to watch people abandon their child
Ask me, I'd die, die to keep mine

I hope you are happy watching your father do the right thing now
I hope you can forgive me, forgive me somehow. [comments] => 6 [counter] => 315 [topic] => 50 [informant] => eastboyez [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 10 [ratings] => 3 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => ApologyPoetry )
