Sun Spots

Topic: PetPoems

They have a very clever knack
Of knowing where to find the spot
Where the warm sun shines,
And there they bathe a lot.

Beneath a curtain partly open
A sunbeam streams down
And right there a clever cat
Has made it all his own.

On the back of the sofa
The morning sun does creep
And there he is so content,
Purring in his sleep.

In the thick grassy garden
It appears to have made a nest
For there it lays contented
‘Neath a tree the sun has blessed.

Woe betide you if you would
Dare to put a foot or toe
Within a whisker of these places
‘Tis safer for them to forgo.

Then, no threat of a sharp claw
Shall reach out in irritation,
Much easier to relinquish,
And avoid any frustration.

Indeed, it’s such a joy to see
These creatures at their best;
Partial they are to these sunny spots
To claim them, there’s no contest!

Oh my god this is such a beatiful poem cats are such amazeing creatures I love them so much my family and I have lost one of our cats a month ago she was an outdoor and indoor cat she left the house one day and never came home not a trace of her anywhere. Her name was tom and she was the queen of sun bathing especially on my parents king sized bed and the little sofa by the window :( your poem will forever keep her alive in my mind just the way she was a sleeping beauty purring in the sun
