The moor is gaping a grimace,
The wind is howling the devil's tune
And the trees are swaying a dance
In the covern of their forest.
In this no man's land between light and dark
The air is heavy with smokey dreams
And the mellow shadows are a stenciled reminder
Of each seasons fragile exsistence,
Each tree, each field, each star and moon,
A pilgrim wandering the narrow lanes of my mind,
Laughter a hollow sound
Frozen on the lips of fast expiring summer.

Some great use of imagery and metaphor here. I, however, hail the end of summer with celebration. Summer is the season of sun-burned fat people, scantily-clad stupid girls and down right arrogance. Winter has a soul. People come together to combat the cold. Summer is the beauty contest, winter is the show of character.

Superior composition,I can sense your intimacy
with the various components, which shadow time
for what would North be without South or East without West?
Your compassion for nature's beauty is compelling
not to mention your ability to convey so flawlessly

One of the reasons why I do my job as I am out and about all the time to see all of what you have described, some lovely lines in this,'the air is heavy with smoky dreams,' and I especially like the last three lines, that amazing transition between seasons as you sense and register the changes, well written

LOL Phil! Winter does indeed have a soul as does this poem. Well done...

Hi Dennis,

Another excellent write! Only this year, summer
seems to be ending before it has had a real
beginning .... at least for many of us.

Descriptively accurate, as always.

Tommy
