and toasts, a toast to nothing at all just our mindless
selves indulging like animals. Surburban festives
and pills crushed on granite counter tops. Where
were our parents? where was my counscious? I

Yes, the urban wasteland conjures up many images. it seems like we've tried to make our lives more comfortable and give ourselves more time, but instead we've just ourselves more miserable. Depressing yes, but a poetically interesting paradox.

Oh yes, good poem. very honest.

Wow! this is very much the way I remember life in London. Sad and vaguely depressing yet very well expressed. I enjoyed reading this. Thanks for posting.

Amazing poem. Paints a vivid picture. I can relate, I'm sure as well as many addicts/alcoholics. Our past is sad, but writing about it and sharing it can help others. Keep writing.

I love this:
"Drinks
and toasts, a toast to nothing at all just our mindless
selves indulging like animals. Surburban festives
and pills crushed on granite counter tops"

Sounds like the movie Candy.

"Surburban festives

How perfect. Couldn't have been said better.
This really touches me. Warns me to get out before things go too far.
