All dressed in sombre sunday black,
Chattering amongst themself's
In a language full of hidden meaning,
The still air heavy with inuendo.
The first one spreads a wing for the sun to inspect,
Balancing on one foot he preens
Like a ballerina striking a delicate pose.
The second one calls in a strident voice, eccentric,
An art critic casting judgement over the wind whipped pond.
The third one walks along the fence,
Her black finery trailing in the wind, stylishly she struts,
A super model gracing the catwalk of her imagination.
They exchange pleasantries one more time
Then the first crow folds his wing and takes to the sky.
The second one fly's above the pond, admires his image
And then takes to the horizon, his shadow trailing clouds.
The third crow sees me and, curriosity aroused, edges closer.
Stares me down and with a cultured shriek fades across the moor.
She is gone. I am dismissed. [comments] => 8 [counter] => 383 [topic] => 27 [informant] => cashfan1 [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 0 [ratings] => 0 [editpoem] => 0 [associated] => [topicname] => NaturePoetry )

my god dennis, you have written such a beautiful peice. i love your language, and you have an amazing way of capturing the things you see with elequent, flowing words. i enjoyed this very much. i felt at peice, and saw a serene, almost a bit gloomy(but in a relaxing way) picture. well done friend, this is a wonderful write.

blessings,
-andrew.

Hi Dennis,

Not the most musical of our feathered friends,
but you captured their arrogance and swank
perfectly.
