she turned the can within' her hands
she thought to herself,"no one understands."
her things were all just second hand
she looked out the window towards the land,

her world was full of earth, hay, and sand
she sighed and slowly began to stand
she stretched as grandchild got a reprimand
heard sheepdog receive another command,

once she thought they would expand
'till money came scarce, life not so grand
for years she learned to survive firsthand
"tis a hard life," said she, "but i withstand."

crops demanded water, the herds a brand
the team of horses could not be left unmanned
when corn came up and they picked every strand
hers was a very hard trying life full of demands,

she turned the can within' her hands
thought of family reunions, as it grows and expands
things she'd given to help out; all just second hand
then smiled out the window towards the land,

"yeah, im just a farmer's wife,
no, it isn't always a pretty life; but
today i think i'll make a castle outta sand
maybe plant a flower garden upon this land."

this is excellent... i love the rhyming scheme too... what a beautiful creature you are to write into words the deep and grounded beauty of unconditional love, as seen through a farmer's wife's eyes... true poet, ye are... blessings...
