I am a perfect myriad of shades.

My eyes hint of midnight oceans that swell and tremble at the edge of the Earth.
You never notice the yearning for your Technicolor, your iridescent hues;

I hide it beneath the gray.

My mouth lacks the heart of a rose, but it is just as tender, just as worthy to kiss;
my flesh is anonymous to you,
pale and empty of passion against the obsidian veil.

It never used to be this way; I was once like you:
gleaming with life,
flushed with drops of twilight.

I was once a breathing dream painted with human colours;
I’ll even dare to say that I was beautiful.

And perhaps my white face will burn in your memory as you pass by,
rich in all your moving splendor
while I pose lifeless behind this glass.

Perhaps, for that one moment,
I am alive because your heart beat at least once while your eyes gazed into mine.

I am but a splash of ink in your world, cheap and easily erased by spit or tears.

You sacrifice neither.

Hmmm...I forgot to read the author's note and then realized it after I read the poem.

Okay, so like, the reason I mentioned that is because the imagery that you convey (at least in this guy's mind...as he talks in the third person) is haunting in a way. I could see this image of this woman standing behind the glass, of course because you wrote that, but it was in black and white!!! Howlapalossawow!!!!!

Then, this woman in the photo dishes it out to this guy, the photographer, for being a jerk wad.

I think she can rest now that you told her story and for that, she can be thankful and I can be thankful for getting to read another one of your poems.

Thank you,

Me

You never fail to move me with your writing. I see you've not posted in quite some time. I hope you are well and have not drifted away from writing. Sadly I have... but your poems always make me want to start again. I think it's been a year or two since we've talked. As always I miss you my super sweet sadist. Your fellow shadow. Dusty , a.k.a Doug
p.s. How can I put into words my appreciation for your ability to put things into words. lol. I can't. That's why I read your work and am most often left unable to voice how they make me feel. Let's just say your poems often take me to a place... you know that beautiful dark state of mind that is , for some reason, so addictive. Take care my friend , luv you still xoxo

Haven't signed on here in awhile Stephy, but you got another beautiful poem here. I thought that last line looked a little... lost there I thought it would've been better without that last line, but hey I'm not the author. All around a solid poem, well written it's easy to see why you were (are) one of my favourite poets!

Amazing to these eyes and ears Stephy...
You are what is missing from YPDC today.
Absolutely lovely and haunting.
As I write this we are both at 299 poems in the same duration of time. Thank you for these words.
