GIVING UP WINE?
Have you ever had to give up smoking?
I'm a diabetic, had to give up carbs,
I suffered, true ailing.

But,

Wine when you dine, 'twas simply divine!

I was married at the time, and walking down Stout
Street in Denver......
I was accosted by a dirty, and shabby-looking
old homeless woman, I'm a good enabler.
She asked me for a couple of dollars
for her dinner.
I searched in my purse, and found 10 dollars
then ask her, "If I give you this money
will you buy wine instead of dinner?"

~.~.~.~.~.~

"No, I had to stop drinking years ago," she said
Asking her if she would go shopping instead of buying
meat and bread?
She once again answered, "No, can't waste time shopping,
I have to look ahead,
I need to spend all my time trying to stay alive instead!"

~.~.~.~.~.~

Still not satisfied, I ask her if she would spend it at the beauty
salon and not buy groceries?
"Are you NUTS!" she replied, I haven't had my hair
done in 20 years, all I have left is pennies!"
After she told me this, is when I changed my mind completely
"I'm not going to give you the money.
I'm going to take you for dinner with my husband
and me," I said briskly.

~.~.~.~.~.~

She was shocked to say the least!
"But, she moaned, "Won't your husband be furious
with you for doing that?"
Then she added, I'm dirty, and I must smell,
disgustingly bad, and I've lost my waistline........."
"That's OK." I said, "It's important for him to see what a woman
looks like after she has given up shopping,
hair appointments, and wine!"

This was an email sent to me
by a dear friend, with no Author
This is also a true life experience
that happened to me in Denver, Colorado
many years ago. I just gave her the dough.
