It's time to rush on out
It's where everyone wants to be
It's what everybody talks about
We grab our chairs and our rods
And sit there with our bait
There's no where better to fish than Richmond Lake

We take our homemade boat
And set out on a cruise
We sometimes decide to race
But no-one wants to lose
We could sail forever
But Ma said,' Don't be late'
I don't ever want to leave Richmond Lake

Richmond Lake is where I go
To watch the water flow
Richmond Lake is the only place
Where you're guaranteed a happy face
When I feel the summer breeze
I wish you'd let me stay here forever, please

The people love the atmosphere
We all get on so well
There is never a dull moment
But I think that you can tell
We don't want night to fall
Because for morning we cannot wait
We spend all summer long down at Richmond Lake

The autumn leaves begin to fall across the grassy bank
And the weather starts to get cold
Our lives are changing in front of our eyes, and before you know
We are all too old

That was many years ago
Generations have come and gone
Some still keep to the rules
But others still do wrong
As I look across the water
And remember the summer of '68
Those were my favourite days spent at Richmond Lake

The morning sun rises early
It's time to rush on out
It's where everyone wants to be
It's what everybody talks about... [comments] => 4 [counter] => 318 [topic] => 44 [informant] => chrisdavid [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 2 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 1 [associated] => [topicname] => Nostalgic )

very good poem, great use of imagery. It really shows how much Richmond Lake means to you and you have given it meaning to someone who's never even been there

ENCORE! ENCORE! ENCORE! Write some more!
I wish I knew where I could find this wonderful lake of yours.......I'd move right in, and stay there forever, just as you stated in your lovely poem!
I used to fish with my father on the Platte River, a fine "fly Fisherman" was he. I think I should have enjoyed it more, but was too young to really see......what a wonderful time I enjoyed just he and me!
Warm love
consue
