When attempting to write this poem I never want to ruin
All those precious "Fairy Tales" we love, only broaden.
As a child, I loved the ending best of all because
Although the story was horrid, they ended with "Awes!"

My favorite was Cinderella and all her struggles galore!
Evil step-mother, ugly, jealous daughters, eyesore!
At last her Prince arrives, only her tiny foot would fit
The glass slipper she wore while dancing with him,
the night she had to split!
And then the Happy Ending.........so romantic,
so dreamy, they happily lived ever after
no "inbetweeny"

But,

If I change the words slightly, and her image
is not shone brightly.......
She actually was dancing in a bar, somewhere afar!
Her prince dumped her at a table, which gave her a "label"
I'm told she sits there to this very day, as a dazzling damsel!

Never fear-- poor reader dear, she was asked to volunteer.........
A replacement for "Snow White" she said, "No fear!"
In the bar she no longer appeared, giving up her beer,
her brassiere, her career,
Would now appear as "Snow White" with 8 dwarfs adhere
Bashful, Doc, Dopey, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, Sneezy
and the one they left out was Lazy!

Tall, dark and handsome, slightly lanky, but very Lazy
Fell head off her heels in love with Lazy, then she went crazy
She soon had 8 dwarfs of her own, two in each arm, and
several crawlers on the floor.
Lazy just sat all day, and watched the "Tellie," as she
meandered alone out the door!

Then Lazy went crazy, and his poor mother had to raise
the dwarfs eight.....
The last I heard, they found Snow White meandering
late one dark and gloomy night.
She was offered another job known as "Little Red
Riding Hood."
Which of course will be my next poem, another
horrific falsehood!

Delightful realism. You are queen of it.
So familiar and real as the Saga of
Mischief.. There is really no end to it. The mischief goes on and on - A Perpetuam"

Great Job, To comje to grips wit reality is virtuous in a high degree.
Love and peace

Hi Connie,

Do you know you could put the Brothers Grimm
out of business?? What an imagination you've
got, young lady!

Thoroughly enjoyed this alternative take on
tired old fairy stories.

Keep that imagination sharp!
