her mistake, she cut too deep
beyond where any tears would weep,
well below the everyday
that a razor blade could slice away

indeed, she went beyond the bone,
to niches she had never known
and shone a light into herself
where futures sat along their shelf

in demise, her epiphany
insight doesn’t come for free;
there’s always loss beyond the pain
and reasons, many to refrain
…too late.

Intense poem, quite sad. This is very well-written and very true. Some people make incisions that can never be stitched. Great writing.

Hi Spike,

Sounds like someone who went further than had
been intended(?) And for some there's no going
back.

A plaintive sincere insight into self-destruction.

Tommy
