Array ( [sid] => 160686 [catid] => 1 [aid] => mick [title] => Brothers Only In Blood [time] => 2010-06-19 18:26:10 [hometext] => Some history: I watched my dad kill my mom and then himself nine years ago. I moved in with my grandparents. Now, nine years later, my older half brother decides to contact me. [bodytext] => Subtly my past appears
Summoning my deepest fears
My memories are undone
The worrying has begun
Tell me, brother, where have you been?
Ignoring your closest of kin.
Was it not our father
Who led Deborah to her slaughter?
Why no contact for these last nine years?
Prolonging endless tears
Like a deep seated wound, is my hurt and strife
And you, my eldest sibling, hold the knife
My confidence was betrayed:
A crippled heart impaled by the dark crimson blade
Left alone to brave the tumultuous ordeal
How, brother, do you feel?
Do you feel the weight of the years long gone?
Or do you look forward to a new dawn?
Alas, you are too late
I've moved on at a breakneck rate
For Thirty-six seasons I have grown
Into me, the man shown
No more need of sibling shelter
Newly born; God as my smelter
You're now forgotten
My memory is rotten
New life begins, for me, thus
I tell you: this is such.

Words cannot describe how much I empathize about all you have gone through. I am sorry your brother wasn't there for you when you needed him most. I hope life gets easier. Powerful poem!

Powerful tragic poem.
I love the lines telling God is the smelter - no need for sibligs shelter.
Life begins anew, let the past be the past.

"I will make all things new" says the Lord.
Thank you for sharig this beautful and powerful poem.
Elizabeth
