On the turning tide of evening. The sun is extracting one final revenge,
Branding tthe sky with a firey iron and the shadows are emptying the valley of light.
And the stillness becomes you, my beguiling sweet lady of solitude.
Somewhere far away the stars are awaiting the moon's command
And across the field a group of crows have gathered,
Their manic chuckling a thinly vieled challenge to the silence,
Their ebony cloaks lifting slighty in the breeze. I come to you then
And you engulf me with your smile, your lithe body entwined with mine,
I taste the wine on your lips, the sweet nectar of hedgerow, meadow and hillside.
The sound of the wind in the ferns, the murmur of wings in the gathering dark,
Is the music you play for me. I step into the safety of your embrace
And we walz across the still water of the lake and on the far bank
I rest in the comfort of your eyes.
And now I ask myself, not for the first time, am I worthy of your friendship?
Am I worthy of a friend who never disapoints, a friend who is open and honest,
So full of living, so devoid of the negative thoughts that haunt my every day?
The evening is almost gone,
The last dregs of light are filtered by the fine lens of the moon.
I leave you at the gate and , untill dawn, I bid you farewell,
My beguiling sweet lady of solitude. [comments] => 2 [counter] => 106 [topic] => 27 [informant] => cashfan1 [notes] => [ihome] => 0 [alanguage] => english [acomm] => 0 [haspoll] => 0 [pollID] => 0 [score] => 4 [ratings] => 1 [editpoem] => 0 [associated] => [topicname] => NaturePoetry )

Captivating, drawing in to the mood and the solace, your poems never fail to reach out a beckoning hand to sit and see what you see and feel what you feel, and this one leaves me with tranquility
